Abstract :We investigated the synthesis method at ambient pressure with alkali metal hydroxides for a high-T_c cuprate of YSr_2Cu_3O_<7-y> (YSCO), which has synthesized only under high pressures and at high temperatures. After the first heat treatment for mixtures of stoichiometric amount of starting materials, together with equal amount of additional solvent of KOH, at 650℃, the following heat treatment at 1000℃ is found to enable synthesis of YSCO successfully. The X-ray diffraction experiment shows that the synthesized YSCO has a tetragonal structure with lattice constants of a = 3.82Å and c = 11.37 Å.
