Abstract :Ekuni Kaori is a popular female writer of romance novels. "Osonatsu no yugure" written by Ekuni Kaori is also a story of a sweet romance between men and women. However, considering the way Shina's loneliness and sensation are being described,I do not think the story line follows the pattern the straight romance takes. This story is not a traditional romance in which a man controls the inner thoughts of a woman but the truth is that she is an active independent individual in her own right. It is true that the story is about a romantic relationship between a man and a woman, but the focus of the story is on how an unfettered free woman would lead an existence out of the framework of traditional heterosexual love relationship. The aim of this paper is to argue that the work is not a straight romance in the sense that a woman is not an object of love but a master of her own self.
