抄録 :Tinker toys consist of pieces of several shapes with which various three-dimensionalshapes can be freely formed. Lezak developed a test called “Tinker Toy Test (TTT)” for evaluating the executive function of adults by using the toys. However, there have been no evaluation criteria for children, and little has been studied and understood on the relationship between Tinker toys and child development. In this study, the authors investigated the changes of TTT scores by development stage, changes in Tinker toy construction product by month age, and the relationships with the lower items of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-III), aiming to clarify whether TTT is related or not to child development and whether it is applicable or not to children. The subjects were 39 children aged 5 or 6 years who were attending to kindergarten or elementary school. We first checked that their IQ scores determined by WISC-III were within the ordinary range. Then the children were allowed to construct forms freely with Tinker toys. The products were judged by using the eight evaluation items developed by Lezak and two newly established items. To investigate to which item of WISC-III TTT scores are related, the subjects were divided into two age groups (27 children in total), and the scores were analyzed and compared. The analysis showed significant differences in TTT scores (p<0.05), mobility (p<0.05) and starting time (p<0.01) between the age groups, suggesting that these items are related to development. However, the other items showed no significant difference, suggesting that they are difficult to reflect the scores of children. Therefore, it is likely needed to establish new scoring criteria. Because there were items in TTT and WISC-III that were related to month age, they are likely related to the development of children. Also there were relationships between TTT scores and lower items of WISC-III, TTT is at least part of the function of WISC-III.
