Abstract :From an economical point of view minimizing the sum of the expected values of loss caused by disasters and the construction cost, this paper describes a probabilistic method for deriving the optimum shear force coefficient of structures under the optimum design based on structural reliability theory. Besides, the pros and cons of the construction of nuclear plant are discussed scientifically from a standpoint of the optimum design.
