Abstract :The cluster analysis has been applied as a practical method to classify similarities of various designs, including package design, where the distance among the two coordinates evaluated numerically, from the image level of design factors, provides the criterion to classify the similarity. The coordinates have definite values. However, from the view-point of Kansei Engineering, it is more rational to define it on fuzzy logic on account of the fuzziness implicated in the image level of design factors. This paper proposes a new approach to classify the similarity of design, using the coordinates expressed with the expectation and standard deviation of the image level of design factors obtained from fuzzy logic.
