Abstract :The Lagrangian dynamic subgrid-scale (SGS) stress model of Meneveau et al. (1994) was implemented and tested for a turbulent flow past a 2D square cylinder. The model improves the usual type of dynamic Smagorinsky model by minimizing the error of the algebraic identity along fluid trajectories. Numerically this is realized by solving two simple relaxation transport equations. It was confirmed that this model contributes to improvement of calculation stability and provides more accurate results than does the usual type of dynamic Smagorinsky model.
