Abstract :A reentrant resonant cavity applicator for cancer therapy is analyzed and resonant frequencies are derived. Finite element method using linear cubic edge element is used to obtain eigenvalues of the cavity. By using this technique, it is possible to eliminate the spurious modes. Subspace method, which is suitalbe for sparse matrices, is introduced here to obtain eigenvalues. The resonant frequencies of the cavity applicator has been analyzed and compared with both measured values and the results obtained by FD-TD method. The results obtained show the validity and efficiency of our approach.
